join our team and help lgbtq+ young people facing homelessness
This is your chance to join the longest - running charity dedicated to tackling LGBTQ+ youth homelessness in the UK.
About Us
akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ+ youth homelessness charity. Founded in 1989, we operates service centres in London, Manchester and Newcastle and provide support across the UK through our Digital Service. Last year, akt worked with over 1150 vulnerable young people.
We exist because of a simple but powerful thought that no young person should have to choose between a safe home and being who they are.
Today, young LGBTQ+ people are still at an increased risk of homelessness and are twice as likely to end up hidden homeless than their peers. akt provides support and routes to safe homes so that young people can thrive.
The Team
In March 2026, akt agreed a new organisational strategy, Home + Hope, to guide its next five years. This pivotal role, reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Senior Management Team (SMT), will lead on translating akt’s strategic intent into action and change, working closely with colleagues across akt to make the themes of the strategy a reality.
The role provides an opportunity to be part of akt at the very start of its next five-year journey, shaping the delivery team, implementation process and initial project work and working in close collaboration with fundraising colleagues to raise the funds to deliver over time.

Please note this is a fixed term position for two years with the possibility of becoming permanent if funding is secured. The salary is £45,000 per annum.
